Former British Colony: Hong Kong

1. Hong Kong. Located in China, along the east coast.
2. When China sought to restrict illegal British opium trafficking, it brought about the Opium Wars. Queen Victoria and the Emperor of China, wanting to end the hostilities between the two countries, resolved to make the Treaty of Nanking. One of the articles included the cession of Hong Kong to Britain.
3. Britain's economy relied heavily on the trading of tea between China.  Other goods such as silk and opium were also traded.
4. The 99 year lease agreed upon in the Treaty of Nanking in 1842 was exceeded. Finally, in 1997, the two governments agreed to the sovereignty of Hong Kong, and Hong Kong was returned to the People's Republic of China.
5. Modern day Hong Kong and China are very different because of Hong Kong's time as a British colony. Hong Kong has adapted to many customs of Britain, and considers itself independant of Chinese control, having it's own set of laws and regulations.

Hong Kong

1. The name of the land that Britain took over in Hong Kong was called the New Territories.

2. Britain obtained a 99 year lease on the Lantau Island and the Adjecent Northern Islands.

3. They used it for textile exports and trading. They also found cheap labour and wanted the land for cemetary and military use.

4. Hong Kong made The New Territories an official colony in 1983.

5. In 1894 the Third deadly pandemic of the bubonic plague spread from China to Hong Kong killing from 50 000 - 100 000 people.

Barbados

Barbados is located in the western area of the North Atlantic Ocean. In 1625, it became English, and then later on, a British Colony. In 1625, english sailors arrived at Barbados. It was the only carribean island not taken over by the British colony yet, and this is why the British empire took over. The main economic activities didn't include much. Although, it did become one of the world's biggest sugar industries later on. The colony gained independence in November 1996, after years of peaceful and democratic success. Barbados is also a member of the United Nations.

Singapore

The colony that I chose is Singapore and it is an island located Peninsular of Malaysia north of the equator. In 1819 an Englishman Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles established a British port in Singapore. Singapore also was a centre of trade from India to China. During World War 2 Singapore was captured and controlled by the Japanese Empire, but when the war ended Singapore reverted back to British Control. The British benefited from Singapore in 2 main ways. The first was that it was a new port that was very good for trading with farther countries. The second is that it is a lot closer to China so it was a lot easier for the British to trade with China. In the 1955 Singapore started a partial self government although it wasn’t too successful at first. In 1959 the elections for the first legislated assembly were held. Later on the PAP leaders, people’s action party, wanted to join Singapore and Malaysia because they thought that the economic ties were too strong to for them to continue governing as separate nations, but of course this didn’t work. Some other facts that I learned about Singapore is that it has a pretty good amount of diversity of people including: Malay, Chinese, Indian, and even some European influences.

India

The name of the colony is India. It is located in South Asia. India was a very rich country before it was taken over by the British. India had all types of spices, making it very popular to the rest of the other colonies. The British were impressed by everything India had so they decided to take over the colony. The empire of India was very weak at the time as a civil war was going on in the country. They officially took over their country in 1747. They took advantage of India, divided into many empires and controlled India's state into their own. The colony of India benefited the British because if the British took over India, they would control everything they do, including their trades with others. It will help the British have a larger land mass and the British will make profits off their trades. The British used this land for the benefit of getting raw materials at very low prices and selling back the refined finished good products at very high prices. The colony gained independence in 1947. The Indian soldiers rebelled against the British, causing Gandhi to have a non-violent protest-movement and gain independence. I learned that India is divided into 28 separate states.

Australia

1. Australia. (Western Australia, South Australia, Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania)
2. In 1770, James Cook claimed the whole eastern side of the continent, naming it New South Wales. The western half stayed New Holland until it was claimed in 1826 by Edmund Lockyer.
3. They were penal colonies. Convicts were sent there to serve their terms.
4. All six colonies federated in 1901 and became the Commonwealth of Australia.
5. Five were penal colonies and one wasn’t. South Australia was deemed a province. This means convicts weren’t sent there.

Cape Colony: Former British Colony

1. Name: Cape Colony
Location: South Africa
2. Occupied in 1795 by the British so that the French could not take possession of its strategic location. The British managed to hand back the colony to the Batavian Republic in 1803 but by 1806 had taken possession again to prevent Napoleon from using it.
3. The Cape Colony benefited Britain because of the location, not so much that Britain had an advantage but that their opponents didn’t.
4. The Colony gained independence when the Union of South Africa was formed in 1910 and Cape Colony was renamed the Cape of Good Hope Province.

ZANZIBAR

1: Zanzibar, located in the Indian Ocean
2:1890

4:no clue
5:nope
The name of the colony was Tobago and is located in the Carribean, off the coast of Venezuela. It became part of the British Empire in 1814 after changing hands 33 times between Courland, Spain, England, France, Sweden and Dutch Republic. The main benefits to Britain was Tobago's cocoa and sugar industry as well as discovery of oil in 1910. Independance was gained in 1962. It was gained when a wave of decolonisation swept the British Empire after World War 2. The climate is tropical and there are about 55,000 people living in Tobago.
Name of Colony: Georgia (U.S. State)

When And How Did It Become A British Colony: Georgia became a British colony in 1732 the last of the thirteen colonies. It became a British Colony when, in 1732 the number of non-english immigrants was at an all time high, and these people helped create the last of the thirteen colonies, known as present day Georgia. A lot of the people that made up Georgia were also immigrants fleeing Spanish Constitution.

How did it benefit Britain: Georgia and the other thirteen colonies were founders of a new country, and the first inhabitants of a new land. The British benefited from this colony, by excessive trade, high taxes, and the possibility of the people finding a new resource, or a vast supply of an old one, to sell and gain more riches.

Gaining Independence: Georgia, along with the other thirteen American colonies, gained independence through the American Revolution, which in the end, they won and made their own country.

West Indies

Back in 1958, the british set up colonies in the caribbean and dubbed them the West Indies Federation. When Britain set up these colonies (consisting of about 250 small and large islands) they were fully planning for them to be self-governing and self-sufficient. The main purpose of these colonies were growing tropical fruits, and processing sugar and rum to be sent back to Britain. Unfortunately, the West indies never really gained independance as a colony, but broke up into smaller countries that we now know as Barbados, Jamaica, Grenada, Trinidad, Dominica, and many other small island countries. The federal government was very weak unlike in most colonies, because of diferent policies between colonies, the british structure which they needed to adhere to, and arguments over where to put the capital.

Australia

Australia is located in the southern and eastern hemisphere. It is on the continent Oceania, which some people call Australia. Australia became a british colony in 1788 when the first European settled on Autralia. Australia had a gold rush in the 1850's, so I am sure that benefitted Britain. In January of 1901, Australia's six colonies became a Federation. They passed the Australia act and cut ties with Britain, and Australia became its own colony and got independance. An interesting fact about Autralia? They have adorable Koala Bears and Kangaroos. Alos, Australians have very cute accents, and most surfers have hot surfer dude bodies. ;)

British Indian Empire - Gary Sandhu

The Name of the Colony is British Indian Empire located in India. Britain came to rule on the Indians in 1858 when India was rebelling against the British East India Company. The rebellion was calles the Sepoy Rebellion. It Benefited Britain by taxing imports and exports going into and out of India, from that they gained a lot of money. They also restricted certain industries so they didn't have competition with the British. India was another piece of land to add to British control. India was slowly growing towards independence in 1946, when a number of mutinies broke out in armed services. Also in early 1946, new elections were called in India in which the Congress won electoral victories in eight of the eleven provinces. Congress and the Muslim League stumbled over the issue of the partition. Many millions of Muslim, Sikh, and Hindu refugees trekked across the newly drawn borders. In Punjab, where the new border lines divided the Sikh regions in half. Massive bloodshed was going on during this.

1. The name of the colony is India, it is located above the Indian Ocean and is on the southern part of asia.

3. Britian benifited from India Because they had many spices, herbs for tea, and silk and cotton to make clothing.

4. India got its independence on Aug. 15 1947. A political activist named Gandhi inspired the people of India to create a non-violent movement.

5. India is good at cricket.

India as a british colony

Name of the colony : India ( all of )
In 1617 india established trading rights with the british empire. However in the 18th century things changed when the mughals declined in power. In 1857 india becamed ruled completly under the british crown. They hoped to sell cloth ( there biggest import) to britan. However britan had litle demand for it. So instead they traded unique indian goods such as spices and silk. At first the british were very acomidable to them, but wen indias trading declined there views changed quickly as they took over the country becoming brutal. The first war against the british was in 1857, but they were easily beaten back down. Then M.K gandhi came along and took hold of indian politics. His strict non violence movement eventually gained indias indipendance in 1947 on august 15th. I find it interesting that no violance is what gained there freedom rather then brutality and force. The main way to get one you want even in modern society.

Essequibo (colony)

The name of the colony is the Essequibo colony. it is located in the Essequibo river on the north coast of south america. It became a colony in 1616-1815 and it was founded by colonists from the first zeelandic colony, Pomeroon, which had been destroyed by spaniards and local warriors around 1596. The main activities in this colony is trading with the local population. The Zeelandics however, had established the colony by themselves, and after they retook possession of Essequibo under command of the commander of Fort Nassau Bergen in 1666, they considered themselves as rightful rulers of the region. Thats how they gained their independence. It used to be called the Nova zeelandia colony.

First, pick a former British colony. (It is better if you don't ALL choose the same one) You can search for "former British Colonies" for a complete list.

Next answer the following questions about it IN YOUR OWN WORDS
1. What was the name of the Colony, where is it located?
2. When and how did it become a British colony?
3. What were the main economic activities in the colony, in other words, how did it benefit Britain?
4. How did the colony gain Independence?
5. Any other interesting things that you learned about this colony?

Now take a look at other peoples posts and see if you see anything in common with the British colonies.

33 Miners that Survived!!!

This is a current event that has happened, and what happened is After two months and nine days trapped 2,000 feet below ground in a collapsed mine, all 33 miners were slowly hoisted above ground Wednesday, thanks to the help of ingenious engineers in Chile.
The men who spent 17 days in the collapsed mine before a bore hole finally reached them were lifted back to the surface through an escape hole just 28 inches across. The entire operation took 22 hours. Each rescued miner rotated10 to 12 times in the NASA-designed skinny capsule on the 2,000-foot journey, so NASA researchers gave them a special liquid diet which helped to stave off nausea and vomiting from the dizzying re-entry procedure. This is like a miricle that had happened because the miners were under-ground for 2 months and they were still alive and survived out of the mine, so hopefully all of them are good in health and are back to normal.

Egyptian Painting Stolen :O

In Egypt, a painting by Van Gogh valued at $50million was stolen from the Mahmud Khalil museum on august 21. 11 culture ministry employees were guilty of negligence. They were sentenced to three years in jail. The painting was stolen in broad daylight, it was cut right out of its frame. The investigation found out that no alarms were working and only 7 cameras. Because of lack of money, the museum decreased its security. Therefore, only one guard was working. Mr. Shalan, head of the department of fine arts, asked for $7million to upgrade security, but only $88,000 was approved. The painting is still missing.

I think that if people are so worried about this painting gone missing then they really should upgrade security. If they cared enough to put up and trial and send people to jail without 100% proof, they should spend money to upgrade security so this won’t happen again.. idiots.

Sheriff says Mexican investigator was decapitated

AUSTIN, Texas – A Mexican police commander investigating the reported shooting of an American tourist on a border lake plagued by pirates has been decapitated and his head was found in a suitcase, a Texas sheriff says.

The death of Rolando Flores, commander of state investigators in Ciudad Miguel Aleman, was a message from gangsters for investigators to "stay out of their territory," Texas Gov. Rick Perry said. Flores was part of a group investigating the reported shooting of David Hartley on Falcon Lake.

Obama agrees to put panels on White House

Barack Obama has agreed to put new solar panels on the White House roof for the first time since 1983. They will be installed by late May or early June of next year. They will convert sunlight into electricity and a solar hot water heater on the roof of the White house. They will get an estimated 20 to 50 panels that covert light into power and it will save them about $3,000 a year in fuel bills. They will be put on top of Obama family's living quarters and will generate more than double the amount of electricity used by the average home in Washington.

The real reason that TV is bad...

In this world where TV and video-games are getting lot of hassle from people blaming them for obesity and other weight problems, the real reason that we need to get off the couch is psychological. In a survey of 1000 kids between ages of 10 and 11, those who spent more than 2 hours watching TV or playing videogames were more likely to say that they felt unhappy, and that they mostly played by themselves at school.

Even if you sent your kids out to play for 3 hours a day, if they were watching TV the rest of the time instead of reading, doing homework, or talking with friends, they are more likely to experience social and psychological problems.

The real problem is that this seems acceptable to most people. Many kids and teenagers are happy to sit and play on their iPods or PSP's at lunch instead of socializing with their peers. So next time, instead of turning on CSI tomorrow, call a friend, or go for a walk.

Gay military

US Defence Secretary Robert Gates has warned a court-ordered halt of a ban on openly gay military personnel could have "enormous consequences".

A day after a judge halted the "Don't ask, don't tell" policy, Mr Gates said he preferred that Congress, not a court, settle the issue.

Under the policy, gay people can serve in the military but face expulsion if their sexuality is revealed.

So why do you think they did this?
Are they being prejudice?
Are they trying to make other soldiers who arent gay feel more comfortable?
Or are they simply trying to protect gay soldiers from other people who do not "agree" with gay military?

Personaly i think it is alittle bit prejudice that you cant tell anyone you are gay. But i can see where they are coming from and why they passed that law. However i dont think that they should be kicked out of the military just because of there sexual preferences.

Why do you think they did it and do you agree with it? please post comments below.

don't ask don't tell

http://www.cnn.com/2010/US/10/12/judge.dont.ask.order/index.html?hpt=T2

this come at wrong time. they are warring. now it will be tense. also, it has bad timing because congress talk about repealing it already. (don't ask don't tell)

Isles' Wisniewski suspended for two games.

New York Rangers defenseman James Wisniewski has been suspended for two games and will forfeit $79,268.30 in salary for directing an inappropriate gesture toward New York Rangers forward Sean Avery during Monday's game at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum. The incident occurred during a stoppage of play in the first period.

Wisniewski, who was suspended for eight games for his hit on Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Brent Seabrook on March 17, 2010, is considered a repeat offender under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Accordingly, he forfeits his salary. The money goes to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund. He is eligible to return October 16 against Colorado.

I think that Wisniewski shouldn't be fined or suspended because Sean Avery is an agitator and lots of players in the NHL will probably do the same or something similar because of his reputation around the league.

Like Mother like Son.

A local woman named Carol Berner was found guilty in an impaired driving accident causing the death of a four-year-old girl. Now her son, Joshua Berner, was found guilty and charged with the second-degree murder of Benjamin Neil Warland. He stabbed and killed this man in Richmond on Febuary 1st 2009, now Joshua was finally charged. What an intense family...

Lil Wayne The Rapper Put In Solitary Confinement

http://www.rapbasement.com/lil-wayne/100510-lil-wayne-is-moved-to-solitary-confinement-at-rikers-island-with-a-month-before-his-release.html

My comments on this are that he was trying to pass his time with a mp3 player. He should not be put in solitary confinement since he did nothing wrong with the mp3 player. Lil wayne has commited his whole life to music and since he is a rapper he should be allowed to listen to music. I also think everyone else in jail shoud be allowed to listen to music as long as there using it for good reasons. Solitary Confinement is when you go in a room by yourself for 23 hours and get 2 hours for religous services and 1 hour for recreational time. If you think about it, Solitary Confinement is a bit to harsh for what he did.

22 Chilean Miners Reach Surface

After being trapped since August 5th and spending a total of 69 days underground, the first Chilean miner was freed at 12:11am today. Florencio Avalos was the first out, followed by a yelling and cheering Mario Sepulveda, who could be heard even before he reached the surface. He even handed out souvenir rocks from the mine. Every 40 to 60 minutes, another man was pulled up in the 13 foot capsule. Nobody has ever survived this long trapped underground, and for the first 17 days, they didn't even know if they were alive. All 33 are expected to be out by tonight.

Political Cartoon

The figure in the cartoon are two polar bears and Stephen Harper. The carton shows the polar bears talking about how Stephen Harper just stand's on a platform but does nothing to help global warming, and the affect that it has on polar bears, which are becoming extinct. THe cartoon takes place somewhere in the north, on icebergs. Some comparisons being made is the importance of Stephen Harper and the importance of Polar Bears. THe cartoonist was satirizing at how even though the prime minister has power and is on a platform, he has made little or no effort to help. The overall message of this cartoon is to let people be aware about how the government should do something about the climate change and it's affect on northern animals. I think the cartoon is effective, because its done in a very creative way.

Arizona Law

The figures in the cartoon are the police and a person. The police is arresting the guy because of his skin colour. The setting is in the Grand Canyon. The police are being racist, arresting people because of their skin colour or race.

Recently this year, Arizona created a new Immigration Law. The law made it so that it's a lot easier for the police to stop anyone who might seem like they're illegal immigrants. If they can't provide the proper documentation, they can be arrested for it. Majorly, this law was created for hispanics.

oprah for obama & the 2nd Obama At White house Also karzai and the afghani elections

This is an image of Karzai for those who don't know the president of Afghanistan, and these are cartoons of him and how he is a fraud during the presdential elections and he was plagerizing and also he made other people vote for him and he wanted to do all this because he doesn't want a smart and brave person to be a president and bring peace to Afghanistan therefore he wins the election in afghanistan every time by giving people big dreams and accomplishment that he says he wil do but this is only to win the elections and to be rich and live happy.

This is a cartoon image of obama and oprah and oprah is showing a sign that says "oprah for obama". This looks like the setting is a presdential election place, and this symbolizes how oprah has influential power over the nation and is saying "oprah for obama" which is like "if you like oprah vote for obama"....

This is an image of obama near the white house and it is obama saying that "this sign should be taken of ". I think this cartoon is making fun of President obama. This is because obama is an Africian Americian and he is called "black" he is near a "white house " which is a sign of raceism and it is showing that the creator of this cartoon must not like obama and thats why he made a cartoon that is making fun of Obama and showing raceism.

Political Cartoon Analysis

 2. Barack Obama, President of the United States.
 3. He is diving into a pool of sharks.
 4. The setting is placed at a carnival of some sort.
 6. The pool with the sharks is labeled "Health Care", probably meaning it's a dangerous move for Obama. There is also a banner that says "The Amazing Obama", so the author most likely supports Obama.
 7. There are 2 parties in the background. 1 group are awed and happy, and the other group is skeptical and unhappy.
 8. How Obama wanted to improve America's health care system.
 9. Obama is trying to improve health care, but political parties have different opinions.
 10. Yes, it is because it illustrates America's health care problems, how Obama is trying to deal with it, how others are responding, and pokes fun at it at the same time.
 2. Sarah Palin, Govenor of Alaska.
 3. The illustration shows an innocent looking Palin, and then a vicious dog.
 5. 2008
 6. The dog is wearing a collar that says "hockey mom", which Palin once was before becoming a politician.
 7. The author compares Palin's innocent demeanor with a vicious dog, implying that Palin is wearing a facade.
 8. How Palin pretends to be an "innocent, sweet, smalltown mayor".

Polar Bears May be Extinct

The figure in this cartoon is a polar bear. The polar bear knows that global warming is affecting his habitat, as global warming is reducing all the ice in the arctic and other cold regions. The polar bear is sitting on a lawn chair with a drink and he is relaxing. He is saying “I figure if we are experiencing ‘global warming’, I might as well make the most of it!” The setting of this cartoon is in some sort of arctic or extremely cold region where polar bears exist. The main symbol in this cartoon is a polar bear relaxing because he knows he will become extinct soon. The overall message in this is that we need to stop global warming in order to keep the polar bears safe from extinction. This is very effective because it is funny and very true.

There are two polar bears drowning in the water because the ice in the north is starting to melt significantly. The bear said “shut up and swim” because if they stay and don’t find ice to live and hunt on they will soon drown and die. The cartoonist is saying that if we don’t start helping the environment soon we won’t have one at all. The cartoon is effective because it tells us that polar bears are dying because they have no home left.

Political cartoon on the oil spill

Theres no title. The figure is a BP who is incharge of the oil spill. The figure is saying that they have contained the oil spill. The setting is at a news station. At the News casters words. The oil spill on the right side is a symbol in this picture. the symbol means that they have moved the oil spill into a bad spot and that they are saying that they have taken care of the oil spill. There are no comparisons being made. The cartoonist is Satirizing the BP. The overall message of the cartoon is that they aren't doing anything about the oil spill. This cartoon is effective because it's talking abouut what is happening in reality and that it's a serious matter.

Political Cartoon

The figure in the cartoon is Barack Obama. He is saying that the sign has to go. The setting is front of the White House. This takes place when Obama first became president. The comparison being made is that Obama is black and he is living in the White House. This is what the cartoonist is making fun at. I think the cartoon is effective because it is funny and really obvious

Oprah

picture

Oprah and Obama are in the picture together surrounded by a bunch of voters. The voters are saying there voting for Oprah. The setting is during the presidential election. Thge symbole is Oprahs influencial power on the nation.

Global Warming

The title is above. Al gore is the figure in this cartoon, and he's talking about reducing energy usage and global warming. He just got off a private jet and is headed towards a limo. The cartoonist is satirizing the fact that many people who talk about reducing global warming actually hurt the planet more than they help it. The message is that Al Gore as being hypocritical when he went to talk about global warming and got there on a private jet. It quickly and effectively shows the message.

The title of this cartoon is Suicide Bomb (duh), and it depicts an Iraqi suicide bomber and Stephen Harper. The Iraqui man is at a bombing site, and Harper is in front of parilament, or so I assume... I don't really find a time in the cartoon. The comparison is that to destroy and cause havoc in Iraq, they have suicide bombers. Here in Canada, we have Stephen Harper to destroy everything and keep us on our toes. I guess thats what the cartoonist is satarizing, Prime Minister Harper's inability to keep things running smoothly. The cartoon got the message across, by pretty much stating that Harper is single handedly, sans bomb, blowing up our dear country. The end.

the title of this cartoon is virus attacks iran the people in the figure are terrarist

the figure in this pic would be monopoly the figure is showing that the economy for the houses is poor for this country. the setting of this pic would be your life on the game of monopoly and all the buildings are being foreclosed . the comparison of this is the game monopoly to life .the cartoonist is poking fun of the economy.the cartoon is effective because every one has seen monopoly and it is showing the ruff time for buildings in the economy

This cartoon is showing an Iraq guy's style of suicide bombing, and "a canadian" style. It is saying that canadians are not making smart choices an being "dumb" when voting for Steven Harper. The person who made this cartoon obviously did not like Steven Harper and is trying to get people not to vote for him. I think this cartoon could and could not be effective. I think that i could be effective because people could take this opion and not vote for him. But then they could also find this just a funny little joke and not really listen and that could be how it is not effective.

U.S. Global Warming Strategy

So this cartoon depicts what the U.S. Governemnt thinks of changes that could easily be made to help counteract global warming! Also shows that the government just likes to dismiss its existance! And shows that if its going to make them lose money they wont do it! Reduce reuse recycle!

Filthy Canadian $

This cartoon shows Canadians 'looting' the United States during the recession while our dollar was higer than theirs. They show all the stereotypical american symbols, and the stereotypical canadian symbols to emphasize and exaggerate the point. Another point is the man in the corner and the title which imply that they should worry more about their Canadians taking advantage of their low economy than the illegal Mexican immigrants. The cartoon shows Americans as innocent citizens being taken advantage of by ruthless Canadians, with 'filthy canadian $' to spend cheap on american goods. the artist is either a Canadian oking fun of how ridiculous the Americans are being about this by emphasis, or an American who exaggerates the issue to point it out and mock us canadians.
(gotta love the angry hockey player in the background as well =D )

Canadian Politics

This comic is presenting the issue of immigration in Canada, and the illustrator is trying to say that we are too leniant on letting people into our country. It shows a sleeping immigration office gaurd, who is unaware of a line of people walking past. The artist is satirizing the Canadian government, and the low level of difficulty to move to Canada from another country. The environment is exagerated, but it gets across the overall point that almost anyone who shows up gets let in.

War VS. Job

picture

This picture has no title. but it doesnt exactly need one because the views are pretty clear. There are two people in the picture. A guy who is in the army, and a guy who just got his diploma. There isnt really a setting. The army guy is saying that its easier to go fight in a war then to get a job. Its ironic how its easier to go off and kill yourself then it is to actually go out and try to survive in daily society. The message is that we need to stop fcusing on war, make peace, and try to make our own economy better. If it had a little more detail i think it would be much more affective.

political cartoooon

this cartoon shows the relationship between canadians and americans. the canadians are saying that what the americans are giving them "looks safe enough". it makes fun of canadians, implying that we have too much trust for americans. the message is that the americans can be tricky and we shouldnt have so much trust in them. its effective because it uses mistakes from the past to show mistakes being made now.

Political Cartoon

Th Figure is the narrator. The Figure is pointing out Obama. They are in a kitchen. Their comparing the intelligence's of kids and adults. The message is that kids are being taught, and parents are just as dum. This Cartoon can be effective if people under stand the message.
