Gay military

US Defence Secretary Robert Gates has warned a court-ordered halt of a ban on openly gay military personnel could have "enormous consequences".

A day after a judge halted the "Don't ask, don't tell" policy, Mr Gates said he preferred that Congress, not a court, settle the issue.

Under the policy, gay people can serve in the military but face expulsion if their sexuality is revealed.

So why do you think they did this?
Are they being prejudice?
Are they trying to make other soldiers who arent gay feel more comfortable?
Or are they simply trying to protect gay soldiers from other people who do not "agree" with gay military?

Personaly i think it is alittle bit prejudice that you cant tell anyone you are gay. But i can see where they are coming from and why they passed that law. However i dont think that they should be kicked out of the military just because of there sexual preferences.

Why do you think they did it and do you agree with it? please post comments below.

  1. I think that it's probably for the gay soldiers protection that they stay quiet about it, but I think that kicking them out because of it is dumb. If they really want to be there then why on earth would the military reject able-bodied soldiers? It seems stupid especially because there are more women in the military than way back when. There is no logical reason not to have gay soldiers.
